  If you want peace of mind, DO NOT go see Dr. Wilson. At STEP they all claim that "breastfeeding is the best practice" but she apparently disagrees. I'm not getting into many details here but she kept on pushing formula to our baby and handed out references to external doctors for additional examination due to "slow weight gain", or FTT, as she said herself. All of this started before our baby was even 4 months old. This was clearly insanity and got to my wife's nerves since our baby was always above the 30% in the curve. My wife would tremble every time she had to return to this place so I immediately scheduled an appointment at the Texas Children's Hospital and there they had a completely different opinion on our baby's situation. They could not comprehend the whole weight urgency and claimed that she had no issues whatsoever. We're never getting back here due to this bad experience.

  I have a love-hate relationship with this office. First, if being able to breastfeed your newborn means alot to you, PLEASE seek a SECOND opinion before you listen to Dr. Wilson. She was pushing formula on me before my son's 2nd week of life because he wasnt gaining weight fast enough for her. My milk was literally just coming in. I stupidly listened to her and have kicked myself everyday since. My experience breastfeeding my son immediately started going downhill and I only got to nurse him for about a month before I couldn't get him to latch. I have done EVERYTHING to try and increase my production but nothing has worked. Another doctor informed me that the weight gain was not a huge issue at that point and I shouldnt have supplemented him so quickly. Secondly, within my boy's first 2 months, I had been asked to come back for weight gain checks once or twice a week, totaling in about 6 visits. I really feel like they just wanted to charge my insurance to make more money so they kept having me come back. Lastly, I brought both my kids in for their well visits at the same time. While we were there, I tried addressing a couple sick issues that had come up prior to our appointment. Dr. Wilson refused to address them and instead told me I would have to make another appointment. I have never had a doctor do this to me. They may charge more to address those issues but never have I had to schedule another appointment. I work full time and had just come off of 6 weeks maternity leave. I can't have constant doctor appointments. I will say Nurse Becky is very sweet and I really felt like she cared for my son's issue when we came in to visit with her. Their office staff has always been nice and welcoming also.
